(Munich) In just under six months, the absolute world class will once again meet in Munich at the MTTC Iphitos. From 13 - 21 April, the traditional tournament will open its doors for the 108th time and already promises tennis at the very highest level.
Alexander Zverev, currently number 10 in the ATP world rankings, and Holger Rune, currently number 6 in the world, are two absolute top stars who have already confirmed their participation in the BMW Open. The two athletes are not only linked by their current top ten ranking, Munich also has a special place in their respective CVs. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev won the clay court tournament in 2017 and 2018, while Denmark's Holger Rune triumphed in the last two editions (2022, 2023). Looking ahead to the BMW Open 2024, the anticipation and clear focus on the third title is growing: "I love this tournament and I will do everything I can to play successfully in Munich again," said Zverev. The 26-year-old has shown top-class tennis and strong results in recent months with tournament victories in Chengdu and Hamburg as well as his quarter-final at the US Open. The 20-year-old Rune is regarded as one of the biggest talents on the tour and was recently ranked fourth in the world rankings: "The BMW Open is a very special tournament for me. Of course I want to defend my title again," says Rune.
