The BMW Open is just around the corner. From tomorrow, the absolute world class will be playing at the MTTC Iphitos for the 108th time. In addition to Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Jan-Lennard Struff, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Dominic Thiem, the main draw of the traditional clay court tournament now also includes the current #13 in the world Taylor Fritz. The 26-year-old US star, already Indian Wells Champion and former #5 in the world, will return to Munich after last year's premiere and further strengthen the high-calibre field of participants. "We are delighted that Taylor has decided to return to the BMW Open and can once again present the spectators with an absolutely top field of highly attractive tennis," said Tournament Director Patrik Kühnen one day before the start of the tournament. Among them is Felix Auger-Aliassime, who will be serving in Munich for the first time and who inaugurated the centre court with the first rallies in the T-court together with Allianz Para Trophy starter Nico Langmann and the tournament directors Mischa Zverev and Patrik Kühnen today, Friday. "I'm really looking forward to being here, I'm hoping for a good week and that I can play good tennis," said Felix Auger-Aliassime in the bright sunshine on Munich's Centre Court.

BMW winning car unveiled

The traditional highlight one day before the tournament: the unveiling of the BMW winning car on the centre court. This year's champion will receive a very special prize on the final Sunday in the form of the BMW i5 M60. "The BMW Group is looking forward to presenting the winner of the BMW Open 2024 with the first all-electric 5 Series in history," said Christian Ach, Head of BMW Germany, after the unveiling. "The BMW i5 M60 takes a leading role on the road to sustainable premium mobility in the upper mid-size class and also offers the dynamic performance of a BMW M in all-electric form. It is the perfect sporty car for a Bavarian champion."

BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, which employs more than 18,000 people, produces around 290,000 BMW 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and 8 Series vehicles as well as the all-electric BMW iX and BMW M GmbH vehicles every year. The competence centre for e-drive production is also located here. Kühnen had already visited BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in March and, together with employees, put this year's winning vehicle through its paces in the so-called "finish" - the final quality control at the plant. "It was an impressive experience to experience the modern production and the attention to detail with which the BMW Group manufactures vehicles," said Kühnen. "I also had the opportunity to drive 'our' BMW i5 M60, and I have to say: the winner of the BMW Open 2024 can look forward to a fascinating winning car."

Allianz Para Trophy as official ITF Grade 1 tournament

Successfully integrated into the BMW Open together with Allianz for the first time two years ago, the Allianz Para Trophy has already achieved this year what the Munich ATP tournament is set to do next year - the promotion to an ITF Series 1 event, comparable in value to an ATP 500 event. The step to an official tournament of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour means not only an additional doubles competition and a larger field of 16 players, but also more prize money (EUR 40,000), more prestige and an even more attractive sporting field. The following players have confirmed their participation in the tournament from 18 - 20 April: Alfie Hewett (current #1 in the world), Gustavo Fernandez (#3), Martin De La Puente (#4) and Gordon Reid (#5) - Grand Slam level at the Allianz Para Trophy in 2024. "Wheelchair tennis players will be playing alongside ATP players on this beautiful course. I'm really looking forward to the tournament week," says Nico Langmann, currently ranked #29 in the world and competing in the third edition of the wheelchair tennis tournament as part of the BMW Open.

"We are proud that the Allianz Para Trophy is being held during the BMW Open for the third time. The implementation at the BMW Open is exemplary and the Trophy is constantly evolving. It is important to us to extend our long-standing commitment to Paralympic sport to tennis. The promotion of sport across the board - beyond the TV sports that are traditionally the focus - is a real concern for us and is in line with our Allianz self-image. This pioneering collaboration underlines our commitment to social responsibility and the appreciation of the outstanding achievements of Paralympic athletes," says Thomas Lukowsky, Head of Marketing & Communications - Allianz Kunde und Markt GmbH.

Sold out every day - limited-time pre-sale for 2025 now available

For the first time in the history of the BMW Open, all nine days are completely sold out before the start of the tournament. After tickets for the two weekends and the quarter-final Friday had already sold out early, there are now no more tickets available for the first tournament days of the main field either. From Monday to Thursday, additional facility tickets will therefore be on sale from now on for €29.

"We are proud of the development of the BMW Open and are looking forward to full courts from qualifying and round 1," said Christian Okon, Managing Director of organiser MMP Event. "We have all the ingredients for a great week of tournaments here at MTTC Iphitos. I'm looking forward to the many tennis fans and world-class tennis from day one," added Fabian Tross, CEO of host and licence holder MTTC Iphitos.

There will now be a limited pre-sale for the upcoming and first ATP 500 in the ticket shop at www.bmwopen.de/en. Tennis fans have the opportunity to register for tickets here up to and including 21 April and receive a pre-sale right.
