The US shooting star confidently beat Botic van de Zandschulp 7:6 (1), 6:3 after one and a half hours. The left-hander served well and impressed with his fast forehand and net play. "I couldn't be happier," said the 22-year-old after his victory. "I love playing in Germany and especially in Munich. We'll continue on Friday, there's still a lot to do," he thanked the crowd. His next opponent will be the Italian Luciano Darderi, who previously won against Miomir Kecmanovic; the two have never played each other before.
