Turning a very good tournament into an even better one

BMW Open by bitpanda on 20 April 2025 in Munich.

The organisers of the BMW Open by Bitpanda were completely satisfied on the final day. The unanimous opinion over the week is that a very good tournament has been made even better with the upgrade to an ATP 500 event. The atmosphere among the fans and players was excellent, there was nothing but positive feedback, the weather was perfect, and in the end there was a dream final between the tournament's number one, Alexander Zverev, and the number two, Ben Shelton.

The BMW Open by Bitpanda was already completely sold out before Christmas, with over 70,000 spectators attending the event throughout the week. Advance sales for 2026 will begin in September.

Christian Ach, Head of BMW Germany: "The week was mega. I also liked the way we staged it and how BMW integrated itself into the tournament as the title partner. We have been living this partnership for 38 years, we are very proud of that, and with the charity project 'Future Aces' this partnership goes even further."

Patrik Kühnen, Tournament Director: "Today is the crowning glory, we have the number one against the number two in the final. It wasn't always so clear-cut during the tournament, we had a lot of close matches. Overall, we had a 'cut off' in the singles at world number 61, which speaks for itself. I also have the impression that the tournament is very well received everywhere."

Christian Okon, Managing Director of organiser MMP: "We have changed a lot, but retained the identity of being compact, family-friendly and approachable. We have realised the tournament according to these standards and the course, as designed by us, has been well received. I would say that the statement from last year, 'We can also do 500', is true."

Dr Fabian Tross, MTTC Iphitos board member: "It was brave of the club to take on this, with all the commitments and the renovation of the facility - now we can say that the tournament has been well received by the members. It was a very successful week with a dream final and the best weather - a reward for all the hard work. The interest of the spectators has increased even more, the facility was full from half past nine and the centre court was continuously occupied from the first serve - that was the image we wanted to send out into the world."
