The ATP 500 tournament in Munich is gearing up for the next edition. With Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, three absolute world-class and top ten players have already made their early commitments for the BMW Open by Bitpanda today. After the very successful 500 premiere last April, tennis fans can also look forward to a top-class field of players at MTTC Iphitos from 11 - 19 April 2026. All three have already reached the final or won the tournament, and all three will have their sights set firmly on the title.
First and foremost, defending champion Alexander Zverev. The 28-year-old German has won the tradition-steeped tournament three times, including the very first edition as an ATP 500 event this year. The current number three in the world rankings is therefore the record winner, equalling Philipp Kohlschreiber, who also triumphed three times in Munich. "Munich has a permanent place in my calendar and feels like a second home every time. The support and atmosphere is simply incredible and I'm really looking forward to coming back in April," said Zverev.
US-American Taylor Fritz is also back at the BMW Open by Bitpanda. After his final in 2024 (lost to Jan-Lennard Struff) and his cancellation this year due to injury, spectators can now look forward to seeing the 28-year-old Californian again. With two tournament wins, a Wimbledon semi-final and sixth place in the world, Fritz can look back on a successful year and go into the coming season with a broad chest.
This year's runner-up Ben Shelton completes the world-class trio. The US star is currently number nine in the world rankings, was already ranked fifth this year and celebrated his very first Masters 1000 victory in Toronto. After his defeat in the final against Alexander Zverev in Munich, he and his US colleague Fritz will be doing everything they can to improve on their result in April.
"The fact that these three players will be playing here again is a strong sign of the attractiveness of our tournament. It underlines our ambition to offer the fans in Munich tennis at an absolute world-class level," said Tournament Director Patrik Kühnen.
Zverev, Fritz and Shelton will start their first matches on Monday (13 April) and Tuesday (14 April). Tickets are still available for Monday - Thursday at www.bmwopen.de/en. All tickets for the Friday quarter-finals and the final weekend are already sold out. It is therefore worth being quick, as experience shows that the other tournament days are also sold out at the beginning of the year. It is now also possible to purchase tickets with a seat for Court 1 (including access to the side courts). At least one single match is planned there per tournament day during the week, with tickets available from just €34.
